Jebet Continues Strong Season With 10th-Place Showing at Midwest Intercollegiate

Nancy Jebet (Eldoret, Kenya/Tulwo) turned in another impressive performance to lead the Carl Sandburg College women’s cross country team at the Olivet Nazarene Midwest Intercollegiate on Friday evening.

Jebet finished 10th overall and was first among community college runners Friday, finishing the 5-kilometer race in 19 minutes, 47.39 seconds. The freshman has yet be beaten by a community college runner this fall.

Sophomore Anastasia Beetler (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) placed 27th in 20:42.54 for the Chargers, who took eighth as a team and were the top NJCAA team in the field. Sandburg has not been beaten by an NJCAA Division I team this year. 

WOMEN’S MIDWEST INTERCOLLEGIATE RESULTS

On the men’s side, freshman Freeman Shoemaker (Oquawka, Ill./West Central) paced the Chargers in the 8K race with a 28:57.20 finish that was good for 123rd place. Dixon Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya/Kipsangui) was close behind in 128th at 29:06.85.

The Chargers finished 16th in the team standings. 

MEN’S MIDWEST INTERCOLLEGIATE RESULTS

Both teams will continue their fall season with the St. Ambrose Fighting Bee Invitational at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf, Iowa.
